1. Insulate your home.

By isolating your home with insulation foam tape, heat cannot escape through windows, allowing for a cooler house and saving on air conditioning costs. In addition for colder months, it can also keep your home warmer and save on heating bills, allowing for insulation tape to be dual-purpose and year-round in saving money for both the summer and winter months.

2. Change your air filter.

Over time a dirty air filter can cause a blockage to cool your house, causing you to notice a temperature change. On average, you should replace your air filter once every three months (or 90 days) to maintain a healthy air conditioning environment. However, if you own pets, you should replace the filter more often (as often as two months or 60 days) to prevent buildup. Failure to replace your filters may cause higher workloads for your A/C unit, poorer air quality, increased electricity costs, and improper air conditioning balance.

3. Adjust your ceiling fans.

In the summer, ceiling fans should be rotated counter-clockwise to provide cool air. The downdraft of the ceiling fans allows the cool air to sink to the bottom, allowing for cooler air to spread across the room. Inversely, for the winter, ceiling fans should be clockwise so there will be an updraft, allowing warm air to circulate to the room.

By following these three simple tips, you can haress the power of cool air against the  sweltering hot and humid Texas summer and allowing you to have a mini-air-conditioned oasis right in your house.
